29 year-old Anatolie Lameza is in jail on $100,000 bond for a felony assault with a weapon charge after he allegedly fired a gun through the back window of a truck and narrowly missed killing the driver.

Lameza appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Tuesday afternoon from the Missoula County Jail and Deputy County Attorney Karla Painter asked for $150,000 bond.

“This defendant is believed to have shot a .40 caliber handgun into the cab of a truck with three occupants inside,” Painter began. “The driver of that truck was struck in the back of the neck with one of those bullets. Somehow it didn’t manage to penetrate the skin, but obviously, this defendant could have killed that driver. The defendant then ditched the magazine and the handgun in the patrol car when he was transported to the sheriff’s office., and that’s where the tampering charges come from.”

Painter said Lameza has a lengthy and varied criminal history.

“There is a 2008 obstructing charge, 2009 negligent endangerment, another charge of obstructing and disorderly conduct in 2009, disorderly conduct in 2010, and a failure to appear in 2011,” said Painter. “These are all misdemeanors, but they are indicative of the defendant’s disregard for the law as well as court conditions, and I think he poses a risk to the community.”

Judge Landee Holloway set bail for Lameza at $100,000 and ordered him to appear again on February 20.
