Curtis Edward Foster, 40, of Frenchtown, appeared in justice court via video from the Missoula County Jail on Friday to face charges of attempted child prostitution as the result of an undercover sting operation conducted in Kalispell by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to court documents, on Wednesday, August 20, Curtis allegedly contacted an undercover detective for the purpose of having sex with either a 10 year-old girl or a 15 year-old girl. The sting took place at a local motel, in which Curtis received a key from the undercover detective to a motel room, and when he used it to open the door, officers attempted to apprehend him, however he was able to escape into the parking lot.

Officers threatened to use a taser on Curtis, and he was taken into custody while yelling that he had been entrapped.

At his justice court appearance, Foster was placed back in the jail on $100,000 bond, and if released, must have no contact with anyone under the age of 18, and must have no access to the internet including email or social media.

If convicted of attempted prostitution with a child, Curtis could receive a minimum sentence of 25 years, up to 100 years in the Montana State Prison, and a $50,000 fine.
