I'm down to the final two positions in my season preview of the Montana Grizzlies football team.

The safeties are responsible for pass coverage and playing against the run. The strong safety typically is a hard-hitting run-stopping force, while the free safety is a speedy, athletic ball-hawk.

Here's how the Griz stack up at safety:

Andrew Badger, Sr.
Mike McCord, Sr.
Steven Rominger, So.
Bo Tully, So.
Zach Gratton, Fr.
Matt Hermanson, Fr.
Connor Lebsock, Fr.
Justin Whitted, Fr.

RETURNING STARTERS: 1

PLAYER TO WATCH: Mike McCord

SLEEPER: Matt Hermanson

FUTURE STAR: Connor Lebsock

Mike McCord returns at free safety after starting a majority of the games last season. The starting strong safety spot is dead even right now between Andrew Badger and Bo Tully. Behind those three, true freshman Matt Hermanson has made his way onto the two-deep depth chart, and fellow classmate Connor Lebsock very well could have too, if not for a nagging injury. Steven Rominger and Justin Whitted could see a few turns at safety as the year goes on, while Zach Gratton is likely headed for a redshirt year.
