The Grizzly Scholarship Association State Board of Directors voted unanimously at its recent board meeting to commit $500,000 in funding match to the athletic facility improvement project at The University of Montana. The athletic facility improvement plan calls for the construction of a new student-athlete academic center, renovation of the weight room and locker room, and the installation of lights at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. I spoke with Executive Director of the Grizzly Scholarship Association, Greg Sundberg, about the project. That interview is attached.

A fund-raising goal of $6 million has been set, with nearly $2 million already collected and pledged. At the May 2011 meeting of the Montana Board of Regents, approval was given UM to hire a master plan architect. A&E Architects was awarded that bid with a timeline that calls for the plan to be complete by the end of December 2011.
