A homeless man reported to Missoula police that he was sexually assaulted in downtown Missoula by an unidentified man early Wednesday morning, September 10.

Public Information Officer Travis Welsh said the 20 year-old victim said he was assaulted by an older man.

"The victim said he had been walking around downtown, and met an older man who struck up a conversation with him," Welsh said. "They walked down to the 500 block of East Broadway and went into an adjacent alley where the older man sprayed some kind of liquid in his face, forced him to the ground and then sexually assaulted him."

The victim described his assailant to police.

"The suspect is a white male, between 40 and 60 years of age, between 5'9" and 5'11" tall weighing between 150 and 170 pounds," Welsh said. "He has brown hair and brown eyes and was said to be wearing a blue and orange coat and blue jeans."

Welsh is asking anyone who may know of someone matching that description,to contact Detective Connie Brueckner at 552-6300.
