Lady Griz Begin Conference Play

The University of Montana Lady Griz Basketball will open their conference season tonight when they travel to Cheney to face the Eastern Washington Eagles. Tip-off is set for 7:05pm.

The Lady Griz were victorious in 2 impressive wins at their Annual Holiday Classic Tournament. On Thursday, The Montana easily defeated Southern Miss., 79-64, behind forward Katie Baker’s 17 points & 11 rebounds. Then, on Friday, the Lady Griz. shut-down The University of N. Dakota Fighting Sioux, 60-39. Montana’s tough 2-3 zone defense gave the fighting Sioux scoring difficulties as they made 12 of 50 field goal attempts. The wins improved the Montana’s season record to 7-6.

Eastern Washington is lead by senior guard / forward Brianne Ryan. She averages nearly 20 points per game. Eastern Washington’s record stands at 7-7 on the season,. The Eagles are coming off of a big win over Montana State last Thursday in their conference season opener.
