There are less than 30 days left to register to vote in Montana, and the folks down at the Missoula Election center are hoping folks will come visit them at the fairgrounds before the very last minute. Missoula County Elections Commissioner Rebecca Connors, explains why.

"Voters should definitely take advantage of this window, because in 2012 we saw lines. I had people pull me aside and ask me 'how long has this place been here,' and I said '29 days before.' So, avoid the lines, come now, we have staff and parking available and it's a lot quicker of a process."

The Missoula County Elections center will be open on Saturdays starting October 25. There’s also a plan to extend hours.

"We even have extended hours available later this month, the last week of October, Monday, October 27 through Thursday, October 30, we're open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. So we're staying open after 5 o'clock that Monday through Thursday that last week of October so voters can come in after work and be able to avoid those lines after election day."

In 2012, about 1,200 voters waited till the last day to register to vote. Even though the polls closed at Eight p.m., the line was so long it took until eleven for everyone to vote.
