Two new schools will be opening for business at the start of the school year in Missoula, Franklin and Lowell.

MCPS Communications Director Hatton Littman said excitement is running high after a busy summer of construction and remodeling.

"We're really excited that we're going to have two construction projects done and two new schools open for the start of the school year, that's Lowell and Franklin elementary," Littman said. "We do have 12 construction projects underway district-wide. You'll notice outside of Hellgate High School, there's lots of construction going on, and folks will start to notice construction happening at Washington Middle School. A little later in August you'll start to se groundbreaking at the new Cold Springs School. Then in September, you';ll start to see construction at Russell Elementary."

Littman said progress reports can be easily followed on the MCPS website.

In 2014, to bond issues totaling over $158 million were passed by Missoula voters.
