Swelling prices at the pump pushed California gas up another 25 cents this week, while most of the country joined in on the rising trend. According to gasbuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan, Montana sang a different tune.

"Peace and quite, One of the few markets across the county that has not seen a big increase is the state of Montana," DeHaan said. "Prices are unchanged compared to last week, and are at about $2.31 a gallon, bucking the trend that we are seeing across the country where prices are up about 9 cents compared to a week ago."

Gas prices are expected to go up in Montana too, but even that may be delayed.

"It wouldn't surprise me in the next couple weeks to see Montana jump on that train and go up a little bit higher, but we all know that Montana has access to cheaper Canadian crude oil, and that may keep markets depressed for the next 7 to 10 days," DeHaan said.

DeHaan says most states are envious of Montana’s gas prices where the cost at the pump is a full dollar less than it was at this same time last year.
