The Montana Meth Project and Missoula Police Department are joining to promote National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day at Southgate Mall on Saturday April 26 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Executive Director of the Montana Meth Project, Amy Rue said Saturday's event is one logical step to help keep children away from dangerous prescription drugs.

"Over the years, we've talked to our children about using drugs, about drinking, and all sorts of things that happen during the teenage years," Rue said. "Obviously, there are major marketing campaigns like ours at the Montana Meth Project trying to raise awareness, however, there's a danger right in our own homes and we think it's time to add that to the conversation with our teens, and that's specifically prescription drug abuse."

Rue has two suggestions for parents.

"First, have a conversation with your teen about prescription drug abuse," Rue said. "Second, take back your old, used medicines to an event like this,"

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday, at Southgate Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
