Original Story, 10:20, July 8-- Missoula Police are still looking for a 31-year-old-woman who disappeared in the Clark Fork River early this morning, July 8 Missoula Police Officer Jim Klawitter says Missoula resident Kate Baker started floating the river at about 3:00 a.m.

“She was with some friends down behind Albertson’s East Gate, she told some friends that she was going to float from Albertson’s down to Brennan’s Wave,” Klawitter said. “She got in the river and her friends lost sight of her. They checked Brennan’s Wave and the riverbanks and couldn’t find her so they called 911 at about 4:52 this morning.”

The search ramped up quickly and includes multiple agencies. Klawitter gave this report at 10:15 a.m.

“We have checked all the river banks,” Klawitter said. “We have checked her residence, her friend’s residence, her vehicle, and we are unable to locate her. We called out city fire who put their boat in the river, they have been unable to find her. We just called out Missoula Search and Rescue who put their boats in the water and we will continue looking.”

Klawitter says police are routinely checking on Baker’s residence and are asking for anyone with any information of Baker’s whereabouts to please call authorities.
