On Sunday morning, December 3, Hamilton police and a Highway patrol officer responded to a call concerning two teenage boys.

"Our officers were dispatched to a residence here in Hamilton at about 7:47 a.m. on Sunday morning," said Hamilton Police Chief Ryan Oster. "The initial call came in of a person who wasn't breathing. When the officers got there they located two juvenile males inside the residence one of which was not breathing."

The police officer and the highway patrolman tried to administer CPR on a 16-year-old boy that had stopped breathing, another 15-year-old boy was breathing but also appeared to be struggling.

"They continued with trying some life saving measures, but it was determined that the one boy was deceased, the other was transported by ambulance to Marcus Daly Hospital," Oster said. "The investigation surrounding the circumstances of the one boy's death is still ongoing, but it appears at this point it was an overdose of prescription medications."

Oster says he has heard reports that the 15-year-old appears to be recovering. The type of drugs and where the boys got them from is still under investigation.
