Severe Thunderstorms – Strong Winds – Hail Expected Wednesday in Western Montana
The National Weather Service has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms in west central Montana and northern Idaho.
Meteorologist Dave Noble said confidence is high for isolated severe thunderstorms from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night that may include severe threats, such as wind gusts above 55 miles per hour, hail up to one inch in diameter, along with flash flooding and debris flows.
Recent burn scars and flood areas that could possibly be affected include the Lolo Creek Fire Complex, the West Fork/Fish Creek Fire Complex in Mineral County, the Hot Springs area, all the way north to the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Forest.
Residents should be prepared for possible flash flooding.
Noble said the most severe storms will occur Wednesday afternoon and evening with some minor storm activity continuing into Thursday.
