A small, single engine plane made an emergency landing in a field near the Wye on Friday morning.

Spokesman for Frenchtown Fire, Mel Holtz said the single engine Cessna had just left the Missoula airport with a husband and wife aboard. When the plane began experiencing engine trouble, the pilot attempted to return to the airport, but made an emergency landing in an open field near the Wye.

Holtz said multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Missoula Rural Fire, Missoula Sheriff's deputies and the airport emergency response team.

The plane landed safely and no fires were reported due to the landing in the field. No injuries were reported.
