Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau responded to Montana Attorney General Tim Fox today after Fox joined a federal lawsuit over Title IX guidance to schools.

"It's curious how Attorney General Tim Fox is wasting taxpayer money by joining a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education because here in Montana, we actually believe in local control of schools and we trust our educators to do the right thing for all students," Juneau said. "So I think it's wrong for Fox to politicize this guidance on how schools should implement Title IX because those decisions are best left at the local level and there's no need for these frivolous lawsuits."

In May, the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice issued joint guidance to schools to ensure the rights of all students, including transgender students, are upheld.
