The Missoula College has finally named a dean of students.

University of Montana Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Perry Brown said the next Dean of Missoula College is...

"Shannon O'Brien, who is currently serving as the governor's education policy adviser, and she will be taking reigns of Missoula College on July 1 and ready to move," Brown said. "She'll be replacing an interim dean, Jane Baker."

Brown said O'Brien has experience all the way from elementary education through doctoral-level education.

"Of course in her role as adviser to the governor, she has been involved in all of the educational things that have been going on in Montana, at least for the last couple of years," Brown said. "In addition to that, she does have a doctorate in educational leadership and is bringing knowledge and a set of skills from different experiences in her working life that I think are going to be really helpful to us."

O'Brien said she's "ready for this new role [...] and is poised to take a leap in enrollment, resource development and statewide leadership."
