31 year-old Daniel Dodson is in the Missoula County Jail on $250,000 bond after being charged with felony sexual intercourse without consent after allegedly raping a nine year-old girl.

According to court documents, Dodson allegedly had sexual contact with the nine year-old daughter of a friend late in the evening at her home on Friday, April 9. Dodson went to the child's room and forced her to have sexual contact. When he left the residence, the child told her mother what had happened, and the mother called 9-1-1. Dodson was later arrested and charged with felony sexual intercourse without consent, and placed in the Missoula County Jail.

At Dodson's appearance via video from the Missoula County Jail in justice court, Chief Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks asked Judge Marie Anderson for $250,000 bond.

"Mr. Dodson is currently on felony probation," Marks said. "It's our contention that Mr. Dodson presents a significant danger to the children in this community. In addition to this victim, another child has come forward and disclosed sexual abuse by Mr. Dodson, and I was also provided today by law enforcement a number of text messages that Mr. Dodson had sent talking about sexual abuse of children and child pornography."

The maximum penalty for felony sexual intercourse without consent is 100 years to life in prison and up to a $50,000 fine. Judge Anderson set bail at $250,000 and Dodson's next court appearance will be April 25.
