30 year-old Rashan Bramble was charged in Missoula Justice Court on Monday for felony assault with a weapon after allegedly striking a romantic rival several times with a shovel.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Ryan Mickelson was the prosecuting attorney and described the facts of the case.

“On January 13th she had attacked the victim, identified only as Jane Doe, with a shovel,” said Mickelson. “She hit her multiple times in the face and as Doe went to the ground she also made contact a few times with the shovel striking her in the left shoulder and arm area.  The victim’s boyfriend came on the scene and the defendant, identified as Rashan Bramble then fled the scene.”

Missoula police caught up with the defendant and she admitted that she did, in fact, hit the victim with a shovel.

Mickelson said the victim received numerous injuries from the attack and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Justice of the Peace Alex Beal set bail at $20,000 and approved her for pretrial supervision.

She remains in the Missoula County Jail.
