It’s a big year for Yellowstone National Park…2016 marks the park service’s 100th anniversary. Morgan Warthin with the park service said Yellowstone is celebrating their anniversary first by welcoming more than 1.4 million visitors this year, a seven percent jump from last year.

"For the first six months of 2016, visitation is up by 10 percent in comparison to last year," Warthin said. "We certainly are seeing a lot of international visitors coming into the park. Collectively we are seeing I'd say Chinese coming into the park, which is quite exciting."

Warthin said to help accommodate to the growing trend, there are currently two Mandarin speakers working for the park service.

"And they have certainly put their skills to work," Warthin said. "They are a seasonal employee. They were hired in the spring and they'll be in the park through the busy summer months. We're dedicated to building bridges between Yellowstone and the Chinese and this was a perfect way in order to build those bridges."

Warthin said by and large, data is indicating that Yellowstone is on track for yet another record-breaking year.
