Arrest Made In Ravalli County Church Burglary and Vandalism
Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton said on Tuesday that an arrest has been made in a church burglary, vandalism and forgery case.
Holton said the burglary at the Corvallis Methodist Church occurred on March third or fourth and that 26 year-old Matthew McClune was arrested on the 10th.
"Detective Scott Burlingham did some outstanding work on this case and we did arrest a suspect this past Friday," Holton said. "He allegedly forged a check that he had stolen from the church, so we were able to get some information on him from that point."
Holton said damage to the church was extensive.
"There was significant vandalism at the church," he said. "There was a a lot of spray paint, a lot of things broken, hymnals and Bibles ripped up, so much so that we're charging him with felony burglary, criminal mischief and forgery due to the amount of damage. He was arraigned on Monday afternoon in Ravalli County Justice Court."
Holton said the investigation is ongoing.
