The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its preliminary report on the cause of an AMTRAK derailment just west of Joplin on September 25, 2021. Here is the  report: On September 25, 2021, about 3:47 p.m. local time, westbound National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) train 7 (also known as the Empire Builder) carrying 154 people derailed in a right-hand curve at milepost 1014.57

Update: Oct. 15, 2021 Funeral plans have been announced for Chief Earl Old Person, who passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. He was 92 years old. Tues.
