County Commissioners Appeal to State and EPA on Behalf of Frenchtown Technology and Industrial Center [AUDIO]
The Missoula County Board of Commissioners has released a letter to the State Department of Environmental Quality and the EPA regarding a proposed Superfund designation for the Frenchtown Technology and Industrial Center.
Ray Stillwell of M2Green Redevelopment met with the commissioners several weeks ago and worked with them to recommend to the State and EPA to address the contamination at the site through an Administrative Order on Consent, rather than a Superfund designation. The commissioners wrote that they "share the concerns of M2Green, and want to work closely with the owners, the State and the EPA to address the site cooperatively."

Stillwell and his firm have laid out an ambitious plan for the former mill site that includes not only industrial and manufacturing areas, but also a possible residential area along the scenic Clark Fork River. The site plan calls for open green space, river access for boats and fishing, and a possible area for light farming or other agricultural uses.
Stillwell says with cooperation from the county, clients are showing renewed interest. He says all the stakeholders involved are fully on board in helping the FTIC become a success. He expects to make an announcement soon with good news for Missoula County the Frenchtown community.
