Easy-to-Spot Burglary Suspect Caught Wearing Stolen Reflective Vest in Missoula
Missoula Police were called out to the city shop early Thursday morning after reports that someone was trespassing. According to Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the suspect was quickly spotted on the premises.
"About 5:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to a property in the 1300 block of Scott Street for the report of a male walking in and out of the building that was not authorized to be in the secured facility," Welsh said. "The officers arrived and they did find a male walking around the property and they identified him as 26-year-old Nicholas Berry."
Berry was easier to spot than most burglary suspects.... because he was wearing bright orange clothing that quickly became part of the investigation.
"Mr. Berry was, in fact, wearing articles of safety gear," Welsh said. "The safety gear he was wearing was a reflective safety vest taken from inside of the shop building on the property and when asked what he was doing there said he used to own the property and was just 'looking around.'"
Berry did not get to keep the reflective vest, but he's still wearing orange in the Missoula County jail where he awaits a hearing on a burglary charge. Bail was set at 50,000 dollars.
