Hellgate High School Football Coach Resigns After 0-10 Season
Missoula School District One announced on Friday, November 22 that R.L. Broyles, head football coach for the Hellgate Knights football team resigned his position this week.
Broyles had spent five years as the Knights head coach, but the team suffered through an 0-10 season this year. In his resignation letter, Broyles indicated that he did not reach his personal expectations for coaching and wanted to step aside and let another coach have an opportunity to lead the team to success.
Principal of Hellgate High School Lisa Hendrix said she thanks Broyles for his dedication and hard work through the last five seasons. Broyles will remain a physics teacher at the school.
"The Hellgate community thanks Mr. Broyles for his hard work, dedication to the football program at Hellgate and the connections he has made with his student athletes."
The position will be posted the week of November 25, and the new coach will be responsible for determining the rest of the coaching staff for the upcoming 2014 season.
