Even if a particular trailhead is lenient with leashing, they HIGHLY recommend everyone still does. It is simply safer for everyone—especially your pet.

Your "good boyeee" may be friendly. But other dogs can get grumpy. If another person has their dog leashed and your pup decides to give an unwelcome greeting, it could result in aggression. Not to mention the aggression they may encounter if you were to stumble upon a bear with cubs while on your hike.

Bottom line...It is wise to practice leashing your dog, regardless of where you go.
