Legendary Rodeo Star with Ties to Montana Has Passed

When it comes to rodeo, the names we know probably vary depending on your specific location.  You might root for the hometown cowgirl or cowboy that you watched as they worked through the ranks.

Names such as Tuff Hedeman, Scott Breding, Lane Frost, Lisa Lockhart or Larry Mahan ring the halls of tradition for the sport.  But there are other stars in the arena that command respect also.  The rough stock that all those rodeo stars ride, rope and tackle.

Animals Are the True Unsung Heroes in the Rodeo Arena

When talking rodeo stars, the stock is really the unsung hero.  If it weren't for excellent bloodlines, bucking ability, and more, the cowboys and cowgirls wouldn't look nearly as nifty in the arena.

Names like Midnight, the largest bucking horse ever, or Bodacious, the world's most dangerous bull all run through with legendary status.  Now, we have lost another to the great rodeo arena in the sky.

Saying Goodbye to a Legend:  Miss Congeniality

In a heart-breaking social media post, Powder River Rodeo, LLC announced that former multiple champion saddle bronc mare Miss Congeniality had passed at the age of 26.  According to Powder River Rodeo, Miss Congeniality "won multiple DNCFR and MSC awards over her 11-year career. She went 11 years consecutively to the NFR from 2002 to 2012. Known for her massive size, long wavy mane, and agility, she was honest, and bucked hard every trip. She was consistently marked in the 90s throughout her entire career."

Not only was she a star in the arena, Miss Congeniality also was known as one of the best producers of her era.  Most notably is that of 4x NFR and 2x Wilderness Circuit Horse of the Year Miss Valley (Miss C X Painted Valley).
