I'm going through changes in my life, said Charles Bradley in 2016.

Well, I guess Black Sabbath also said that once upon a time.

Anyways, there are more changes coming to college football.

FCS Moves To 12-Game Regular Season Schedule

Each of the past few seasons, and the upcoming 2025 season, the Montana Grizzlies played 12 regular season games.

It's influenced by when the regular season starts, and then how many weekends college football can fit in before reaching Thanksgiving weekend and the beginning of the FCS Championships.

Now, the NCAA will make a 12-game schedule the norm.

At the recommendation of the Football Championship Subdivision Oversight Committee, the council adopted expedited legislation to change the first contest date for FCS football, starting in the 2026 season. Moving forward, FCS programs will be able to compete in 12 regular-season games every year, with the regular season starting 13 weeks before the FCS championship selections date. The move provides programs greater scheduling flexibility and eliminates the first contest date exceptions. -NCAA.org

There were two variables that popped into my mind when I first read this:

1) More Montana Grizzly Football is a good thing. It gives us fans another non-conference game to watch, and hopefully, an eclectic mix of teams to play around the country.

Adding the extra game could mean we see more FBS opponents on the Griz schedule moving forward.

2) Player's safety. As much as we love watching football, adding another game means more of a toll on the players' bodies.

12 games is reasonable, but when teams go on a playoff run and end up playing 15 games from September to January, it could bring more bumps, bruises and breaks to players.
