UPDATE: THREE Griz Get NFL Invites
[Update: 8:24 am on April 30, 2024]
A third Montana Grizzly has received an NFL invitation.
Congratulations, AJ Forbes
The anchor of the Griz offensive line AJ Forbes received an invite Monday morning to Seattle Seahawks' camp.
There are still some candidates for NFL invites out there for the Griz. Reigning Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year Alex Gubner is the first to come to mind. Chris Walker has a shot on the other side of the line as well.
New Big Sky Conference invitees
Sacramento State has two more players who received an invite to NFL camp or signed as a free agent. Former offensive lineman Jett Stanley received an invitation to Pittsburgh Steelers camp. Cornerback Caleb Nelson is heading to Miami Dolphins camp.
[Update: 10:49 am on April 29, 2024]
It was a quiet NFL Draft for the Montana Grizzlies. No Griz, or Big Sky Conference players, were taken during the three-day Draft, but after the dust settled three players received an NFL invitation.
Congratulations, Nash Fouch
Griz Safety Nash Fouch received the nod to the New York Giants Minicamp. Fouch was a pivotal point for the nationally renowned Griz defense a year ago. The Woodinville, Washington native played in all 15 games, racked up 52 tackles, forced a fumble, recorded a sack and picked one ball off.
Congratulations, Travis Benham
Fouch isn't the only Griz headed to the Big Apple either. Punter Travis Benham will try out for the New York J E T S (Jets! Jets! Jets!). Too bad it wasn't last year because maybe Benham could have been featured on Hard Knocks with Aaron Rodgers and gang.
Big Sky NFL Signees
Like Montana, there wasn't a single player drafted from the Big Sky Conference, but a handful of players signed on after the draft.
Montana State Bobcats: First Team Al-Big Sky tight end Treyton Pickering was invited to rookie mini-camp with the New York Football Giants to pair with Fouch. Pretty cool to go from Sunburst, Montana to the Big Apple.
Idaho Vandals: Idaho's top two offensive weapons from a year ago - Hayden Hatten and Jermaine Jackson - get their shots at the NFL. Hatten, who led the conference in touchdowns and receiving yards a year ago, signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Jackson, a prolific returner, signed in the Bayou with the New Orleans Saints.
