Missoula Is Turning Into A Sports Hub This Week
The calendar flips to November and that means it's go time in the University of Montana Athletics Department. It's the month that fall and winter sports collide. Football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, tennis and both basketball teams all play during November. For someone who works in athletics, let me tell you it can be exhausting. It's very fun, but it's exhausting and I have one of the easier jobs.
Starting this week, Missoula will turn into a sports hub. It starts with the men's basketball opener vs Hawaii Hilo (Bonus points if you can guess Hawaii Hilo's team name. It's listed at the bottom in the Griz Men's Basketball schedule) on Monday.
On Tuesday, the Lady Griz play their opener in Spokane against Gonzaga.
Next, is the Big Sky Conference Soccer Tournament.
On top of basketball and soccer, Grizzly Football welcomes its toughest opponent to date: UC Davis. The 4th-ranked Aggies hit Washington-Grizzly Stadium for a Saturday night, primetime showdown on ESPN 2.

That is a busy week. This is what my schedule looks like:
- Monday: Bus to Spokane
- Tuesday: Go to Lady Griz shootaround in the morning, and call the Lady Griz-Gonzaga game that night. Bus back to Missoula late.
- Wednesday: Call the Big Sky Conference Soccer Quarterfinals at 11 and 2 pm
- Thursday: No sports
- Friday: Call the Big Sky Conference Soccer Semifinals at 11 am and 2 pm
- Saturday: Start Grizzly Football Pregame show at 6:15, on the sidelines for Griz-Aggies at 8:15
- Sunday: Call the Big Sky Conference Soccer Championship 1 pm
I wouldn't trade it for the world.
