He may not be from Montana originally, but soon-to-be Griz Hall of Famer Scott Gurnsey is maroon and silver, or in his case copper and gold, through and through. Gurnsey played four years at the University of Montana and spent 27 more years on the Grizzly Radio Network broadcasting games as a color commentator or pre and postgame host for Grizzly Football.

Gurnsey chatted with the Voice of the Griz Riley Corcoran on The Daily Drive With Ace Sauerwein last night to share how the HoF nod snuck up on him.

"I really didn't know the criteria or the rules or what have you," said Gurnsey on the HoF process. "I mean, to be honest with you until I got nominated, I really didn't even think about it. And then kind of once I knew that I had been nominated, I kind of started paying a little bit of attention."

Gurnsey joked that he would try to persuade the voters once he was on the shortlist.

"I knew some of the people, that were, you know, voters and stuff. And I would drop the casual hint 'Hey, you know, am I close?"

Through the jokes, Gurnsey was as humble as ever when he received the notification.

"Riley, I don't know that I ever deserved to be in there. I mean, you go and look in the Hall of Fame and you look at all the members, and the football players, the gals, the coaches, and the support staff... Even on Friday night when I'm up there I still guarantee you I will not feel like I deserve to be up there."

Corcoran disagreed, saying "Well I can tell you that you deserve to be up there." I tend to agree with Corcoran.
