A Small Gesture Of Love Can Be Powerful In Missoula

Winters can feel like they will never end in Montana. When the holidays are over and the new year has begun, there is still a lot of cold weather left. There are agencies available in Missoula to help people who may be having a hard time. There is the Poverello Center, the Missoula Food Bank, just to name a couple. But sometimes there is something that is small, simple and can still help.

First Presbyterian Church Has Some Help If You Need It

I went by the First Presbyterian Church recently located at 235 South 5th Street West in Missoula and I saw a couple things that made me proud to call Missoula my home. The first was a little tree that had baggies attached to the branches. Inside the baggies are knitted hats, mittens or scarves. They are available to whoever needs them while the cold weather is still here.

A Small Pantry Can Help

The church also has put together a "pantry" that can be used by anyone who needs it. They have clothing, food, and even books available to whoever needs it. Just stop by and see what is available. This is a great example of our community helping each other which is something that makes our city special.

We Can All Help In Small Or Big Ways

Every year we are involved with The Guerrilla Turkey Drive and KYSSMAS For Kids and we see first hand what power our community has to help those that need it. These two events happen at certain times of the year. To see something like this available is something we should cherish and encourage. Not everyone can get the help they need through traditional means. Sometimes they just need a small gesture to make it through their day.
