Every once in a while, taking a trip down memory lane can be a really cool thing. In Missoula, there are a lot of places where you can relive the past because of mementos that are still around.

Missoula has seen a lot of changes over the decades and that doesn't seem like it is going to slow down anytime soon. According to Aterio.com, Montana may see as many as 100,000 new people by 2030.  There are still a lot of places where you can remember Missoula's past at least for a little bit. Take a walk downtown and look at signs from the past.

Of course there are reasons why places change. After all time marches on. But it is comforting to know that some things don't change. There are things that have changed over the years out of necessity. For example the big clock on the sidewalk outside of the old Florence Hotel building. The clock I remember growing up had Stoverud's Jewelers on it, until a truck ran into it and knocked it down. The clock has been rebuilt and fixed. Even though the clock isn't the one from my childhood, it reminds me of the time when that clock stood tall.

Looking back at the signs that have stood the test of time in Missoula is very cool. Some of the signs bring back memories, the memories may be a little more hazy than others. I did spend a lot of time in some of these places over the years. Some of the businesses are long gone, but the signs remain. Not all signs are in downtown Missoula either. There are signs spread throughout the city. Let's take a look at these signs and remember a different time in Missoula. Even though time does march on, these signs below remain for us to remember.
