Historic Military Convoy Rolls Into Missoula Today With 50+ Vintage Vehicles

An historic military vehicle convoy is making its way through Montana and will be spending tonight in Missoula before continuing its journey to the Oregon Coast. 

Following in the Footsteps of Lewis and Clark

The convoy is part of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA) Lewis and Clark Westward Convoy, a roughly 2,000-mile journey that follows the route taken by the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery during their westward expedition in 1805.

More than 50 restored military vehicles are participating in this year's convoy. Visitors can expect to see everything from vintage Jeeps and military trucks to historic ambulances and other support vehicles, many of them painstakingly restored to their original condition. 

A Journey Through Montana: Convoy Stops and Timeline

The convoy began its journey in Bismarck, North Dakota, and has already traveled through several Montana communities, including Glasgow, Jordan, Lewistown, Great Falls, and Three Forks. After an overnight stop in Salmon, Idaho, the vehicles are expected to come back through Montana. They are expected to arrive in Hamilton around noon today, then head to Missoula, arriving at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Tonight's stop will be at the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History. The convoy will spend the night in Missoula before heading back into Idaho, continuing through Washington, and eventually reaching the Oregon Coast.
