Missoula's neighborhoods are diverse. We have hills, rivers, trails, and more that make up our city. There are two neighborhoods that are divided by geography. The two Rattlesnake neighborhoods are connected but are still two different areas. There is the Lower Rattlesnake and the Upper Rattlesnake. Both of these neighborhoods are popular and have their own identity.

Where is the Upper Rattlesnake Neighborhood?
In order to access the Upper Rattlesnake neighborhood you will need to pass through the Lower Rattlesnake which is the south border of Upper Rattlesnake. The east boundary is Mount Jumbo. To the north is the Rattlesnake wilderness. The west border is the North Hills.
Who Lives in the Upper Rattlesnake Neighborhood?
The Upper Rattlesnake has not grown as much as Missoula did between 2010 and 2022. Missoula's population has grown by 10% during that time and the Upper Rattlesnake's population has increased by 6%. The population is also on average older, with a median age of 45.3. The median age of Missoula is 33.8 years old. According to the report a majority of the population, 72% has at least a bachelors degree or higher, much higher than the Missoula average of 49%.
What is Housing Like in the Upper Rattlesnake Neighborhood?
The housing in the Upper Rattlesnake is more expensive for both owning and renting than the Missoula median prices. The median home price to purchase is $519,000, the Upper Rattlesnake median home price is $793,700. The median rental cost for Missoula is $895, while the Upper Rattlesnake it is $1,069.
