I'm pretty tired of learning about new things that could be bad for me. It seems like every week I hear a new debate about whether or not something is healthy, whether it's foods, deodorants, scented candles, plastic containers or other items. Next thing you know they'll tell me even cigarettes are unhealthy— oh wait. It happens so often I've developed a fatigue with the whole subject, and at times I'll refuse to look into it at all. I'll admit, if I had a nickel for every time I've said the phrase "I'm here for a good time not for a long time" I'd have enough nickels to fill a swimming pool with, and I'd jump into it like Scrooge McDuck. That's an exaggeration but you get the point.

Now that I just told you how much I hearing new things could be bad for me, allow me to inform you that gas stoves could be bad for you. Sorry. Here's an article from Curbed that lists some of the studies that show a potential risk.

The reason why everyone's talking about gas stoves right now is because US Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. identified gas stoves as a "hidden risk," and said “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned” in an interview with Bloomberg this week.

So will gas stoves be banned in Montana?

The short answer is probably not, at least not anytime soon. The agency commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. tweeted later tweeted "To be clear, CPSC isn't coming for anyone's gas stoves. Regulations apply to new products." In other words, it's unlikely that anyone will rip the stove from your wall, though it is possible that one day new stoves may be required to be electric. In the meantime states can make their own regulations, but my guess is Montana won't be the first to pass legislation of that nature.
