Missoula Kona Bridge Fishing Access Site Project Needs Your Input
One of the most popular fishing and recreation sites in the Missoula area is under consideration for a sizeable facelift. Care to weigh in?
KONA BRIDGE BANK STABILIZATION
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks tells us that they are proposing a project to repair and stabilize the streambank at the Kona Bridge Fishing Access Site (FAS) located in Missoula on the Clark Fork River. The Kona Bridge FAS is approximately 2.75 Acres in size and consists of improved infrastructure including a vault latrine, asphalt paved road and parking area, concrete block boat ramp, signage.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD IS UNDERWAY
The public comment period runs through September 23. The legal jargon includes: "Before a proposed project may be approved, environmental review must be conducted to identify and consider potential impacts of the proposed project on the human and physical environment affected by the project. The Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and its implementing rules and regulations require different levels of
environmental review, depending on the proposed project, significance of potential impacts, and the review timeline."

HEAVY TRAFFIC, PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS MAKE NICE
Kona Bridge Fishing Access Site is one of those areas on the Clark Fork where heavy use can cause a lot conflicts among its users, mainly because of its proximity to a city's heavier population area.
And while in good faith everyone wants to believe all users will be courteous and respectful, we all know it doesn't usually work out that way. Here's hoping with these kinds of upgrades, maybe a little more responsible sense of ownership with evolve.
