Heads Up Missoula: Verizon Wireless Outages Affecting The Area
After I got to work this morning, I attempted to call a friend and received their voicemail. I hung up the phone and didn't think much of it until I went to call a coworker and received a direct line to their voicemail. At that point, I realized it might be a problem on my end. I double-checked that my Verizon bill was paid and it was. Then I noticed the dreaded "SOS" on my home screen.
Note: yes, I'm a Spotify guy and yes, I have it on my pinned bar.
Verizon's check network status shows there has been an impact to wireless service in Missoula.
"We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue." -Verizon.com
Numerous national outlets like CNN, CBS News and Deadline, are reporting a nationwide Verizon outage. CBS reported at 8:11 am there were "more than 100,000 reports of Verizon outages." It's not just Missoula or the West either. "Outages were reported from New York to Los Angeles."

That being said, a few of my friends reported to me they've been able to use their phones for calls and texts off of WiFi through Verizon's network in Missoula. It may depend on where you are at, but there is definitely an outage of some sort in the area.
This would be a good time to set your phone down, disconnect and go touch some grass.
