He was Trying to Break Back In
The callers reported that after the stabbing, Raider was locked out of the residence and was currently attempting to force entry back in by breaking down the door. Before the deputies arrived, Dispatch was advised that Raider had returned to their portion of the residence, the second floor.
A deputy was the first to arrive on scene and was shortly followed by a sergeant and a corporal. The corporal observed that the entry to the second floor flew open, and Raider exited the second-level residence. The corporal could see that Raider had blood all over their hands and was holding an axe. The corporal told Raider to drop the axe. Raider complied with the commands and was placed in handcuffs at the bottom of the stairs.
The deputies placed Raider into the back seat of a patrol vehicle and observed lacerations to both of Raider’s hands, indicating to the deputies that Raider had tried to cut their fingers off. Accordingly, Raider was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital to receive treatment and medical clearance.
Raider Admits to Stabbing Doe
During the ride and throughout the interaction with law enforcement, Raider made multiple audible statements of his own volition. According to court documents, those statements included admissions to stabbing Doe, and that Raider attempted to stab his sister and kill her dog.
When the sergeant entered the residence, he immediately went to check on Doe. The sergeant observed that Doe had suffered multiple stab wounds to his abdomen, and the people inside the residence were holding pressure on his wounds. EMTs ultimately arrived and took Doe into their care.
Doe’s medical state on the night of the incident was unstable, resulting in him having to be sedated and intubated. The tracheal tube was removed on September 17 after Michael stabilized.
