Current State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner Running for Congress

KGVO News spoke to Downing just moments after he declared his nomination, as he explained why he is running for Congress.

“Frankly, the Biden administration has been a disaster,” began Downing. “I mean, look at our out of control spending, look at what's happening with our porous borders, look at human trafficking, and fentanyl hitting our streets. Look at what's going on with this woke agenda poking its head into every part of our life from our schools to women's sports to bathrooms to having this new woke military.”

Downing, a Veteran, says He Is Deeply Concerned about the Future of the U.S. Military

Downing, a combat veteran and pilot for the U.S. Air Force, is deeply concerned for the future of the U.S. Military.

“The reason for our military is to be the most effective fighting force on the planet and to protect all that's great about this great country,” he said. “We need somebody in there that's a conservative voice that's going to protect this country, fight back against the Biden administration, rein in spending, secure our borders, and move our agenda forward. I'm that person, and I'm very excited about this race.”

Downing is Convinced that Matt Rosendale will Run for the U.S. Senate

Downing said he is announcing his intention to run now, because he is convinced that the incumbent, Matt Rosendale, will soon announce his run for the U.S. Senate Seat currently held by six-term Democrat Jon Tester.

“The issue is, is we're just running out of time,” he said. “That windows is closing and we need to start a campaign now so that we can effectively fund it, get the grassroots support, get the message out there, build this campaign infrastructure, because before you know it, we're going to have absentee ballots in the mail, and we need to make sure that we've got all of our ducks in a row and that we've gotten that message out. I'm very convinced that Congressman Rosendale is going to run for Senate and that this is going to be an open seat.”
