Gun Sight Scare at a Missoula Bar Results in Felony Charges
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 26, 2025, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at Ropers Lounge. The 911 caller, Jane Doe, reported that the suspect vehicle was an older model white Jeep. A deputy learned the vehicle was registered to 25-year-old Katrena Reed.
Upon arrival at Ropers Lounge, the deputy spoke to Doe and her boyfriend. Doe reported that she knows Reed and they do not get along. Doe stated that she is a bartender at Roper’s and has kicked Reed out of the bar in the past. Doe explained that as she was closing up for the night, she observed Reed’s vehicle outside in the parking lot.
Red Laser Scare
Doe reported that the Reed was making a scene and being loud but did not come into the bar. During this time Doe and her boyfriend observed Reed shining a red laser through the large glass windows and into the bar. Doe and her boyfriend believed the laser was a laser sight on a gun. Doe stated she knows Reed often carries a gun. Doe and her boyfriend retreated to a backroom away from the windows.
Doe said she texted Reed and told her that she had called the cops. Reed then drove her Jeep into the side of Doe’s car. Doe explained after she had called 911, Reed left but then returned and circled the parking lot several times. Then the deputy followed Doe and her boyfriend most of the way to their residence, at their request.
About 30 minutes later, the deputy heard a Montana Highway Patrol trooper advise dispatch he was behind the Reed’s Jeep in Lolo. The trooper initiated a traffic stop at approximately mile marker 85 on Highway 93, with the deputy directly behind.
