Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At approximately 11:00 p.m. on December 6, 2022, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Miller Creek Road for reported suspicious activity. The complainant said that his neighbor had been shooting a gun outside his home earlier and was now outside screaming. The complainant was concerned for the well-being of others that lived in his neighbor’s home.

When deputies arrived, they noticed a male, later identified as Joshua Bodda, standing in the driveway. As soon as the deputy exited the patrol car, he could hear Bodda yelling, cursing, and threatening law enforcement. Bodda allegedly acknowledged the fact that the deputies were law enforcement, but he continued to threaten them.

Put Your Hands Up and Get on the Ground

As the deputy approached the driveway, Bodda quickly ran back inside his house. As the deputy began to approach the house, Bodda ran back out of the house and down the other side of his driveway. The deputy pointed his duty weapon at Bodda and told him to get on the ground.

Bodda was given several commands to show his hands, to stop, and get on the ground. Bodda continued to threaten law enforcement and refused to obey any commands given to him. Court documents indicate Bodda ran full speed at deputies several times and then would turn back and walk away. At one point, Bodda came within a few feet of a deputy and the deputy drew his taser in response.

Bodda continued to flee down Miller Creek. A MCSO Seargent approached Bodda and Bodda turned and swung his arm in the Seargent's general direction. Bodda was brought to the ground and was told several times to put his hands behind his back.

Stop Resisting Arrest

Bodda attempted to grab at deputies’ duty belts and guns. As Bodda continued to fight and resist, a deputy stunned Bodda with his Taser in the lower back for approximately five seconds. Bodda was eventually placed in handcuffs. Bodda had to be handcuffed with two pairs due to his large stature.

Deputies attempted to get Bodda to stand on his own and get into the patrol car, but he continued to fight them. Bodda kicked at deputies several times striking them in the legs. Bodda's legs had to be restrained with a hobble leg restraint.

Bodda continued to resist by stiffening his body straight like a board and would not get in the patrol car. Eventually, Bodda had to be lifted and pulled into the patrol car. A deputy then transported Bodda to the Missoula County Detention Facility.

Bodda is currently being charged with felony attempted assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer, and assault.
