Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 1, 2022, at approximately 7:23 p.m., a Missoula Police Department officer responded to a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the 3000 block of W. Broadway. It was reported that a 1967 Chevrolet Nova was the vehicle that fled the scene. A witness followed the suspect vehicle to the 300 block of N. Russell, where it stopped.

The officer located the suspect's vehicle. There was heavy front-end damage to the front driver’s side and to the rear passenger side. A male was standing at the vehicle and identified himself as the driver, 47-year-old Daniel Rodoni. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.

“Daniel Rodoni was taken into custody on felony DUI charges after causing an accident with injury and leaving the scene,” Arnold said. “With witnesses’ help, who provided the license plate, vehicle description, and direction of travel, officers located the vehicle and driver, Rodoni. Officers observed heavy damage to the vehicle consistent with the accident reported. Officers observed indicators of impairment and conducted the standardized field sobriety test. Rodoni was taken into custody. The condition of those involved in the accident is unknown at this time.”

During the investigation, the officer said Rodoni was swaying back and forth, and that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. The officer also noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Rodoni’s breath.

Rodoni admitted to drinking three Crown Royals, but refused to do a PBT test or provide a blood sample. The officer applied for a search warrant for a blood draw, which was granted. A blood draw was performed at St. Patrick Hospital and the results are pending.

The officer later reported that there was a video of the accident that showed Rodoni’s vehicle attempting a burnout on W. Broadway. Rodoni lost control, struck another vehicle, and then drove off.

Rodoni is currently being charged with felony DUI, reckless driving, and failure to give notice by quickest means of an accident. A felony DUI is a fourth or subsequent offense. Rodoni has past DUI convictions from 1996, 2002, and 2017.
