Missoula Police Officer Discovers Suspicious Activity in a Camper
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 10, 2024, at around 3:06 PM, a Missoula Police Department Officer was patrolling the 1900 block of Sherwood Street when she observed a camper with multiple bikes outside of it lying in the grass. The officer knew the bikes were in an area that is half private property and half public right-of-way so she decided to approach the camper and ask the occupants if they would move them.
The officer observed that the camper was open but could not see anyone. The officer walked around the camper and saw a male standing in the doorway who would be later positively identified as 42-year-old William Donahue. The officer also saw two other individuals seated inside the camper and one was positively identified as 53-year-old Jolene Schwoob.
Schwoob was holding what appeared to be a glass bong. The officer noted that the second Schwoob saw her, she moved the glass item out of view and shoved it behind a curtain. The officer noticed that no smell of any marijuana was present which led to the suspicion that they were smoking something else. The officer said all three individuals seemed extremely startled by her presence and it appeared they did not see or hear her approaching. The officer asked all the individuals to exit the camper so she could speak with them.
As the officer got closer to Donahue, she observed the corner of a small plastic baggie sticking out of his front right pants pocket. The officer pointed out the baggy and Donahue just said, “Yeah”. With consent, the officer retrieved the baggie which contained a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. Donahue was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility.

Then the officer spoke to Schwoob and asked her if she could grab the bong that she had hidden. Schwoob helped the officer find it. Inside the bong, the officer observed white residue that looked like partially burnt methamphetamine still in the “bowl” area. Schwoob went on to state that she was smoking what was already in the bong, but claimed there was a “hit or two” still in it. The officer placed Schwoob under arrest and transported her to the jail as well.
Donahue and Schwoob are both currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
