A Missoula developer is announcing a new plan for a major project on the city's "waterfront", saying he's enlisting a new design to redevelop the former Missoulian building site off Higgins Avenue.

Cole Bergquist has controlled the site for the past few years, but earlier plans ran into controversy over scale and legal complications involving his Utah business partner.

Now, Bergquist says he's partnering with Hawkins, a Boise-based development group that he says is a "perfect fit" for the next chapter. He says the new design is more efficient, fits the site better, and follows the downtown Missoula master plan. "Higgins Waterfront" will feature 80 residential units, with condos, penthouses, and two-story townhomes, a 155-key hotel, and the city's first rooftop restaurant and bar.

Plea entered in the murder of disabled son case

A mother from Lima is pleading "not guilty" to charges that she murdered her disabled 3-year-old son earlier this month. KXLF is reporting Nichole Boyer entered the plea in the Beaverhead County District Court, where she was also permitted to attend the boy's memorial

Spartan Race returns to the Flathead

Discover Kalispell announced this week that the endurance race, which was last held in 2023, will be returning this coming May. The race will take place at the Wrangler Springs Ranch in Bigfork.
