Dangerous Missoula Shooting Suspect is Still At Large
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 5, 2023, at around 3:15 p.m., Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives responded to a suspicious incident. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an adult male suffered a gunshot wound and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith has the details.
“The suspect is believed to be an adult male and armed and dangerous,” Smith said. “The crime occurred between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you were near Sha-Ron Fishing Access, near the Clark Fork River, or near the new overflow parking area and saw something that could help law enforcement locate the suspect, please call 911 immediately. If you see suspicious activity, do not approach any individual. Call 911 immediately.”
On December 6, 2023, at approximately 5:26 p.m., Smith announced that the suspect is still at large.
“Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Detectives continue to investigate the assault with a weapon that occurred near the Sha-Ron Fishing Access,” Smith said. “Detectives are following up on all information provided by the victim. This information has been difficult to navigate and has created additional questions into the facts of the incident.”
Through their investigation, Smith said Detectives have identified and are interviewing persons of interest.
“We are compassionate to the fear and unrest this incident has caused and are working to bring it to a close as quickly as possible,” Smith said. “The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office is appreciative of those who have provided information and detectives are following up on all leads. Please continue to be cautious. This is, and will continue to be, an ongoing investigation. The safety of our Missoula County residents is of utmost importance.”
