Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 26, 2024, at approximately 9:06 PM, a Missoula Police Department Officer was conducting patrol within the city limits of Missoula. At the beginning of his shift, the officer had checked the active felony warrant list and saw that 39-year-old Meggan Fisher had a warrant for $25,000 out of District Court.

The officer knew that Fisher frequented the local shelters in Missoula so he contacted both the Poverello Center and Johnson Street Shelter. The officer discovered that Fisher was checked in at Johnson Street Shelter. The officer responded to the area and observed a female, who appeared to be Fisher, enter the shelter.

Then the officer entered the shelter, located Fisher, placed her under arrest, and put her into his patrol vehicle without incident. A search incident to arrest was completed and the officer discovered a hypodermic needle, suboxone pack, and a broken glass pipe.

After remanding Fisher to the custody of the Missoula County Detention Facility, the officer drove back to the Missoula Police Station to log Fisher’s personal items that the jail would not store. The officer then received a notification that staff at the jail had located what they suspected to be methamphetamine that had been concealed on Fisher’s person. The officer was also advised that several items of drug paraphernalia were located in a fanny pack belonging to Fisher that was transported with her.

Upon further investigation, the officer advised Fisher that he would not pursue charges for the paraphernalia, but the items were nonetheless photographed and then logged for destruction. The officer then photographed the baggie with the suspected methamphetamine in it. The officer then approximated the total product weight of the methamphetamine to be .05 grams.

Then the officer tested the substance, and the Tru Narc showed it to be methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine was then logged and stored in evidence pending transport to the Montana State Crime Lab for chemical analysis.

Fisher is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and failure to appear. Her bond was set at $25,000 for the failure to appear and $10,000 for the drug charge.
