Man Attacked With a Wooden Club Outside the Missoula Library
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 1, 2026, multiple Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to the Missoula Library for a report that an individual was being assaulted with a weapon. The complainant said, “someone beat someone with a baseball bat”. An officer arrived on scene and contacted the complainant. The complainant said a male, later identified as John Doe, was crossing the street on his bicycle when another male, later identified as 35-year-old Micah Soller, ran towards Doe and started assaulting him with a pole or bat.
Another officer located and contacted Doe. Doe said Soller hit him approximately three to four times with a baseball bat and had a “crazy” look in his eyes. Doe said he was hit in the back of the head and arm. The officer observed that Doe’s forearm had two lumps that were dark in color and had a small red mark on Doe’s scalp. Doe said the male also smashed his guitar, which was valued at $200.00. Doe said he was able to get away and did not hit the other male.
An officer contacted two additional eyewitnesses who said they observed a male with a guitar case attempting to get away from another male. Then the officer contacted an employee at the library who pulled up security footage. The video showed Doe crossing Adams Street on his bicycle. Soller then sprints at Doe, holding a pole or a stick approximately 18 to 24 inches long that appeared wooden or metal and 1 inch thick.

Soller hit Doe multiple times in various parts of his body with the pole. Doe jumped off the bicycle to face Soller while Soller continued hitting Doe. Doe was able to separate himself and drop his guitar. Doe continued to run away from Soller. Soller grabbed the guitar and slammed it on the ground, damaging it. Soller then ran at Doe before Soller stopped and turned around, walking the other way.
The employee provided a photo of Soller from the surveillance footage to law enforcement. Officers received information that Soller was outside the courthouse on Ryman Street and Pine Street. The officer arrived and located Soller, who asked if he was being detained, to which an officer responded that he was. Then Soller was arrested.
Soller repeatedly requested an attorney while being arrested. Soller was not asked questions about the offense, but requested that his backpack nearby, be brought with him to the jail. Soller’s backpack was brought to the police station, where an inventory search was conducted. During the inventory search, an officer located several large knives and an approximately 18-inch by 1.5-inch wooden club.
