Glenn Beck Highlights $50 Million in Fraud BLOCKED by Montana

"Human trafficking, fake rehab bills, millions stolen – 'it’s bad' in Montana, says Insurance Commissioner James Brown." Thankfully, Montana BLOCKED it.

In case you missed it, Glenn Beck featured Montana's State Auditor James Brown on his nationally syndicated program. In the segment, Brown highlights how fraudsters in California were targeting Native Americans here in Montana, in particular, with their schemes.

Here's part of what Brown told Glenn Beck:

James Brown: "This is government at its worst. It's human nature at its worst. So under Obamacare, Native Americans may enroll in the ACA marketplace at any time, and this scheme involved targeting at-risk Native Americans who live on reservations in Montana, fraudulently enrolling them on Obamacare, then physically transporting them across state lines, which is, as you know, human trafficking, and then billing our insurance company for rehab treatments that did not take place or were unnecessary or performed at greatly inflated costs. And then what would happen is, is these Native Americans who were targeted then were just dumped out on the streets in Arizona and southern California."

Brown says the total amount of attempted fraud would have been $50 million, but the state was able to block the payments.

James Brown: "We've been able to stop, once we were aware of this and started investigating it, we've been able to stop so far, about 23 point 3 million in fraud from occurring in the first place. Unbelievable the numbers that we're talking about here. There's about, we believe, about 200 fraudulent policies, if you will. So that means there's 200 Native Americans that have probably been victimized by this. Unfortunately, my jurisdiction ends at the Montana border. As you can imagine, we are in conversations with the FBI and the US Attorney's Office out of Montana to try to track down who some of these players are in the fraud scheme."

Brown later added, "We believe that the fraudulent payments that actually made it through the system were less than a million, but we've been able to block about 50 million."
