Somewhere around 5 a.m. Monday morning I was prepping for my radio show in the Montana Talks studio at the top floor of the Doubletree when Mark Wilson of Cat Country pops in. "We just saw the Billings Police ram a vehicle across the street from the hotel," he told me.

I figured I should head downstairs and snag some photos.

Turns out the BPD didn't ram the suspect vehicle, but they were there to help make the stop.

The incident started at 4:38 in the morning in the 4000 block of Grand Ave. According to the Billings Police Department, "a male suspect and two female suspects committed a car jacking using a handgun to threaten. The vehicle was found by MSUB Police and a pursuit was initiated along with a Billings PD Officer."

Sgt. Mansur shared the following details via Facebook later Monday morning: "As Officers were converging on the vehicle pursuit in mid town, the rear male passenger bailed out of the vehicle. Several Officers began checking the area for the male. The vehicle was spotted again shortly after and the vehicle pursuit continued. Officers pursued the vehicle into downtown and at N 27th St and Montana Ave, an unassociated motorist T-bone crashed into the fleeing vehicle. Both females fled the crash and a short foot pursuit took place and the driver was taken into custody."

According to Sgt Mansur, "The driver was taken into custody by BPD Officers and Yellowstone County Sheriffs Office Deputies. The driver was identified as Turvy Hardground (28 year old female) from Billings. Turvy was charged with Robbery, Criminal Endangerment, Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Obstructing Law Enforcement, and Resisting Arrest. The male and the 2nd female have not been located at this time."
