My original headline read- Montana Senator praises Ford decision to "save" AM radio. But let's be honest, Ford won't kill nor save AM radio. Nonetheless, it was a smart move and a good move on Ford's part to "keep" AM radio.

For those who missed the news, Ford Motor Company was actually considering NOT having AM radio capability in their vehicles. Ford has now reversed that "tone-deaf" decision.

Montana's United States Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) praised the decision earlier this week, highlighting the importance of AM radio from a public safety standpoint in particular.

Senator Daines: Glad to see this decision from Ford. Especially in a state where folks get as much windshield time as Montana, AM radio is so important to public safety and to our local broadcasters who keep Montanans in every corner of our state informed.

I do think that there are a lot of folks on the Left who want to kill AM radio because they equate AM radio with talk radio. I often get a kick out of people asking me what I do for a living. When I say talk radio, every now and then you'll get someone who will say: "Oh, like AM talk radio?" Yes, kind of. Except for now, we are on a LOT of FM radio stations and signals too. And now most of our radio stations also have online apps and streaming capability.

The broader point I want to make is that radio is going strong. While newspapers, and to a certain extent TV stations, are struggling and losing market share in the digital era, radio continues to go strong. Simultaneously, radio stations and radio content producers are able to capitalize off of the digital marketplace.
